There is nothing more romantic, than sitting by a fireplace, maybe sipping on some wine, with someone you love. But if your fireplace was not constructed well, that could mean disaster.
It is important to make sure all the internal components are properly installed. Make sure your damper and or smoke shelf is in proper working order.
It is also important to make sure your chimney is clean and free of debris.
Make sure also that your fireplace surround and your hearth are up to building codes. Also any external furnishing's must be up to par.
